about

This album features music and piano improvisations that reflects the various mindsets and observations I experienced during the year of the pandemic. You may find some of these tracks uplifting while others may seem more like an unsettling reflection of reality.

1. 2020 Meditation
A musical mediation played on a piano recorded using and old unstable cassette deck. The pitchiness and slightly off playback speed help convey the disturbing recollections.

2. Chaos Stream

Played on an una corda piano (a piano where each key strikes a single string) with a felt treatment. This is my impression of the bombardment of a constant conflicting stream of information that everyone absorbs daily.

3. Quarantine Reverie

Written while looking out my home office window last summer....

4. Doom Scrolling

This highly disturbing track is meant to literally represent the effects of doom scrolling.

5. Wayfinder
Music in search of a destination...

6. Escapism
An analogue mini-cassette recorded, EP driven escape.

7. Troublesome Fire Rumination
A piano improvisation performed while meditating on the damage done by the Troublesome Fire.

8. Lockdown
A foreboding analogue soundscape depicting the dark side of the lockdown.

9. Thanksgiving
A reflection recorded on Thanksgiving Day.

10. Another Day
A vinyl infused dirge pondering the continuing pandemic.

11. Sycophantic Dream
An ode to the despair of the deceived.

12. Disorientation
A soundscape featuring old recordings of the Opera “Dido And Aeneas” by Henry Purcell.

13. Watching The Stars
An improvisation recorded after seeing the stars on a clear night, and wondering...

14. Recovery
A musical response to those suffering.

15. Epilogue - It Seemed So Real
This was the first thing that came to mind on January 1st, 2021- this is a new piano solo version of the piece "It Seemed So Real" that first appeared on my 2016 album "The Past Future".
